Limited Education in Ghana
The Ghanaian government only provides public
education through junior high school.
To attend senior high school, families must pay a tuition fee.
The tuition fee for a high school education
is approximately $500.00 for all three years.
However, the average family income is less than $2.00 per day.
Therefore, this tuition fee is too costly for these poor rural
families, so fewer than 20% of the children attend senior high school.
By providing scholarships to high school for children who cannot afford the school tuition costs, we are offering
children an opportunity for a brighter future based upon self-sufficiency, independence and self-esteem.
The Ghana
Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to students from the rural villages of: Adomi, Akrade, Akwarmifie, Apaaso,
Atimpoku, Kotropei, Mangoese, New Akrade, Old Akrade, Senchi Ferry, New Senchi, South Senchi who attend the junior high schools
in Senchi Ferry or New Akrade.
Eradicating poverty begins with education.
Today, millions of children are condemned to lives of limited possibility due to a lack of education. We had the opportunity
that these children don't.
