HOW TO DONATE

Senchi Ferry & New Akrade are small rural communities in West Africa, whose people have been subjected to events beyond their control.

Events Beyond There Control
Ghana built the Akosombo Dam in 1960 to provide hydroelectric power to all of Ghana.  This required the flooding of the Volta River basin to create Lake Volta, still the largest man-made lake in the world.

Loss of Homeland
The flooding of the Volta River Basin resulted in the displacement of 80,000 people.    Families were forced to relocate and lost their ancestral homeland, sustainable farms, family income and livelihood.

Without compensation, other farmers were required to sacrifice much of their farmland to provide housing for the displaced settlers.

Through No Fault of Their Own
Because families lost their homeland, they lost their livelihood.    With limited education, they have little prospects for other work. Therefore, they are caught in a cycle of poverty that needs to be broken.

I am called to help. Join me. Together, we can make a difference.
